No. Everyone interested in HPT and the field of Performance Improvement is encouraged to join this social network community. We have members from all over the world. Yes, we do differentiate between members of the ISPI international society and everyone else (including local chapter members). However, Guests comprise almost a third of our community membership and are an important facet of our growing community. When you sign up, choose ISPI Member if you are currently a member of the international society (remember, this is different from local chapter membership). Otherwise, choose Community Guest when joining.
We encourage you to create a complete personal profile (including a photo of yourself), as it will help you establish your identity with other community members. Also use your profile to help manage your community connections, messages, groups, content, as well as your preferences for each.

Finding people in the community is easy. You can use either the:
* Community Search box (found on the top right of the homepage or top left of most other pages)
* Member Search (found in the left navigation menu of all pages)
The Member Search allows you to enter the search criteria, such as name. Note, for example, that if you enter the beginning of the name, all people who have the same beginning will appear. For instance, if you enter "Mil" in the last name field, you could get both "Mills" and "Miller" among the results. You can also search by group and location too.
If a person listed is a member of ISPI, but have not yet joined HPT Connections, he or she will still appear in the results. Click on the option to send them a message, inviting them to join the community.
When viewing a person's profile, you can send them an invitation to connect if you have a tie to them (a friend, co-worker, colleague, etc.) or message the person if you don't know them but would like to.
You can click on a number of the items in a person's profile to search the community for members who have the same attribute (or begin with the same characters, or must contain the same text selected). For example, this could be used to quickly discover all the people in the HPT Connections community from a certain city or country.

Groups are administrated by one or more Group Administrators, and may be either:
- Open - the entire community can view the group (with Guests only able to access selected groups)
- Private - only group members can view the contents
In either case, you have to join a group (using the icon along the top of the group page) in order to add content to it (blog postings, photos, etc.). You may request, and have, membership to many groups. Access depends on whether the group:
- Allows instant access to all membership requests (such as the Conference groups)
- Requires approval from the group's Group Administrator
- Requires that you be invited to join the group (such as the Board of Directors).
Note: Only Group Administrators can add new blogs, albums, or pages to a group.
Furthermore, groups members may be able to send different types of communications to the other members of the group (chosen by the Group Administrators). Group members may be able to send:
- A bulk e-mail directly to the outside e-mail address provided by each group member
- An internal community message to all group members
If you have a question about how Groups work, or how to use the functions of a group, either contact the Group Administrators or click here to e-mail the Community Administrators.

Yes -- community members can form a variety of groups of their choosing. Creating your own will require time and dedication to be successful. For a number of reasons, only Community Administrators can create new groups. Therefore, we need information from you about the group you want to create. This is submitted on a New Group Request form.
Click here to go to the New Group Request form. Once approved we will notify you of your group's creation so you can finish its setup.
