Bio

I have been a Certified Performance Technologist since 2002. In 2010 I received the International Society for Performance Improvement's highest award, Honorary Member for Life, for my contributions to both the technology of Performance Improvement and to the Society. In 2010 I was also recruited as an inaugural member of ASQ's Influential Voices initiative. I have been in the performance-based Training/ Learning/ Knowledge Management profession since 1979. I've been an external consultant for all but 3 years since 1982. From December 2007 until October 2010 I was a Director of Curriculum Architecture at Wachovia's General Bank Group. In my consulting practice I have served more than 60 firms including over 40 Fortune 500 firms, on over 250 projects doing large-scale Instructional Analysis, Design and Development efforts - plus client ISD process re-engineering and client staff development efforts. I have also planned and conducted/led other performance-based non-Instructional efforts including the redesign of Jobs/Organizations, Career Planning & Development Systems, Recruiting & Selection Systems, Performance Appraisal & Management Systems and Pay for Performance Qualification/Certification-based Compensation Systems. I am the author of an award winning book: lean-ISD - covering my ISD methods including Curriculum Architecture Design (CAD) - and I have done 74 CAD projects since 1982, plus led staff and clients in the conduct of many other CAD efforts. I was co-author on the first article on Curriculum Architecture, published by Training Magazine in September 1984. I have written 13 books, 90 articles, and have presented over 90 times at Conferences and at chapters of ASTD and ISPI.
